I'm Jamie Davis, a painter in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I make large oil paintings with a palette knife, each one sized to the wall it will hang on: a lobby, a conference room, a dining room.

Other sizes are quoted at the same rate. A wall wider than one canvas can take a pair: Feeling Green is two panels, 30 × 60 inches each.

How big should the painting be?

Measure the wall, or the sofa, table or desk the painting will hang over. A painting looks right at about two-thirds to three-quarters of that width.

Process

How a commission works.

The Sioux Falls painter you can hire for a wall: a price per square inch, pictures as I go, and a repaint if you don't like it.

1. Send me the wall. A photo, its measurements, and the colors and feeling you want in the room.
2. I quote it by size. $1 per square inch, so a 40 × 60 is $2,400. Half is due to start, by Square invoice: card or bank transfer.
3. I paint it, and send you pictures as I go. Turnaround runs one to two months, depending on size, complexity, and my current workload.
4. You see it finished. If you don't like it, I'll paint it again.
5. You pay the rest, and it's yours. Paintings don't come framed, but I can refer you to a great framer in Sioux Falls.
6. I deliver it. Delivery is free in Lake, Lincoln, McCook, Minnehaha, Moody and Turner counties around Sioux Falls. Pick it up yourself and take $100 off. Outside those counties, I’ll quote delivery or shipping with the painting. I don’t hang paintings, but I can refer you to someone who does, for $20 a painting.
